My Music
Composing is a side hobby. I don’t write music often, but I enjoy it when I can.
Below, you can find a few pieces that I have written and have had performed. They are either for piano or for organ and choir. Scroll down to learn more and listen to some of them.
Fiery Force

This piece was written for a Pentecost Evensong service. The text was written by Hildegard von Bingen, a medieval nun, composer, and mystic. Her text describes the energy and power of the Holy Spirit.
The music is largely based around the “Veni Creator” medieval chant associated with Pentecost, although there are several original themes scattered throughout. It complements both the force and the gentleness of the text.
Mass of the Evangelist
(2024)
Unison voices and organ

This Mass is designed for liturgical use, and uses the texts found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. It is influenced by a variety of liturgical music from medieval chant to the 20th century. Each movement has its own key center, but all of them have hints of modality. The sung melody is written for unison voices, however there are moments with a soprano descant at the end of the Gloria and Sanctus.

Adagio and Allegro
(2017)
Trumpet and piano

This two-movement piece echos the many Adagios and Allegros that have been written for trumpet and other instruments. Set in B-flat minor, the piece uses the full range of the trumpet and incoporates a bit of dialogue between the two instruments.

Neapolitian Suite
(2017)

The Neapolitian Suite is a doubly named piece. It three movements represent the different flavors of Neapolitan ice cream — the music of Vanilla is very simple but pleasant, Strawberry is a bit fruiy and tart, and Chocolate is very bold and rich — and each movement plays a unique chord known as the Neapolitan at least once.
